Sion Milosky’s death at Mavericks in 2011 stunned the big wave surfing community. Later that year, Kohl Christensen and Danilo Couto gathered a group of surfers on the North Shore of Oahu and held a CPR course. It was the first unofficial Big Wave Risk Assessment Group meeting. Over the next decade BWRAG would evolve into a worldwide, safety training program taught by some of the best-trained big wave surfers in the world.
